A person was found dead in an early morning house fire in Pickaway County.
The Guardian was the only local news source to cover the fire when it broke out Saturday morning.
Flames engulfed the house at 24 Hall Street. Inside, firefighters found a badly burned body. The flames were so intense that the identification of the person is not possible without a forensic examination.
Detective Bryan Cline with the Ashville Police Department told the Guardian that officials were not releasing the name of the person who was found dead inside because investigators are still awaiting confirmation on the identification from the county coroner.
Cline said that the investigation is still in the early stages and they have not been able to rule out foul play.
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire, which has not been determined, according to state spokesman Brian Bohnert.
The marshal has posted a $5,000 reward for information about the blaze.
No other details have been released.
