An alleged robber has been arrested after a robbery spree spanning Clinton and Fayette counties, while another is on-the-run.
It all stems from four different holdups, Fayette County Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth said on Friday.
Deputies from the Clinton and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on one residence and two vehicles, that led to the arrest of Andrew Dowe, age 22 of Wilmington.
On Thursday July 9, Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Pilot Station, located along route 68 after a man held the truck stop at gunpoint and demanded money.
On Saturday July 11, Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies went to the Midway Sunoco, located along route 38 to investigate a robbery where a man showed a gun.
On Sunday July 12, Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Shell Food Mart, on State Street in Jeffersonville, where a bandit held that clerk at gunpoint, as well.
On Tuesday July 14, Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the state route 73 Shell, where an identical heist went down.
Dowe faces multiple counts of robbery and he did not act alone, deputies said. Antwan Morris, 22, also of Wilmington, has not been arrested, but he has warrants out of both counties for being involved in the robberies.
“This is a great example of multiple agencies working together to solve a violent crime,” said Stanforth. “While we are fortunate and thankful that no one was physically injured during these incidents, history tells us that would not likely be the trend if additional robberies occur.”
