Obituary
James Harold Siders, 97 yrs old passed away on January 17, 2021 at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Highland County on November 11, 1923. He married his sweetheart, Vivian Joan Trefz, on January 5, 1946, and they were happily married for 75 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Force, as a tail gunner and had extraordinary achievements in aerial flight from October 1944 through March 1945 and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
He never looked for a praise. He was not one to boast but went on quietly working for the ones he loved the most.
His dreams were seldom spoken, his wants were very few and usually his worries went unspoken too. He was a firm foundation through all our storms in life, a sturdy hand to hold to in times of stress and strife. He was a true friend we could turn to when times were good or bad, one of our greatest blessings, the man that we called dad.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Joan; his sons, Michael (Kathy), Anthony (Connie), Andrew (Beth), Timothy (Ronda), Nathan Jan; his daughter, Althea (Larry Caplinger); 17 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. James is preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Timothy Siders
The family would like to express their deepest appreciations to Ross County Home Health, Grant Hospital and Union Township EMS for the exceptional care they provided for James.
A private funeral service will be held for family in the Richmond Dale Church of God with Pastor Ron Cottrill and Pastor John Evans, Jr. officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Richmond Dale Church of God’s Facebook Page starting at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021. A public graveside service will follow the service in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale.
