A search and rescue was suspended at night fall in Ross County after a man fell overboard a boat in Paint Creek.
It occurred near route 50 and Rapid Forge Road this afternoon. Dispatchers confirm that witnesses say the man fell overboard from a watercraft and hasn’t been seen since he went into Paint Creek. The call came in at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Crews searched until nightfall at around 8:30 p.m. before the search was called off until Monday morning due to darkness; there were no signs of the man.
“The search has ended for the evening and will resume on Monday, March 22. The investigation into this incident is ongoing,” said Ohio Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Sarah Wickham.
ODNR is the lead agency in the search. They had launched boats Sunday evening and requested their helicopter, which was spotted hovering overhead. Volunteer search and rescue crews were also on the scene scouring the area, as well.
The park’s dam has been shutdown to help stave off treacherous waters and stop water flow.
No names have been released.
