GREENFIELD, Ohio — The Greenfield Police Chief has been named grand marshal of the Greene Countrie Towne Festival Parade
Chief Jeremiah “Jimmy” Oyer was selected to be this year’s grand marshal by the Greenfield Rotary Club.
Club officials said, “Members feel that, even though Oyer is unable to attend, the honor is appropriate at this time in large part because of the department’s ongoing efforts under his leadership that have resulted in drug arrests and subsequent indictments.”
Oyer has been with the Greenfield Police Department for over twenty years.
In a statement, Oyer said, “It is with great respect and honor that I was chosen to be the 2021 grand marshal for the Greene Countrie Towne Festival Parade.” Oyer went on to say, “I do want to take time to thank those who nominated me for this great distinction, and I truly appreciate this accolade. I will continue to take pride in my community and help in any way I can.”
The Greene Countrie Towne Festival will kick off today in downtown Greenfield. According to officials, the parade will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
