ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — One person was killed Tuesday in a fatal fire in Ross County.
Fire and rescue crews from multiple townships responded to the area of Adrian Drive near route 50 on a structure fire.
According to initial reports, the home was fully engulfed in flames prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
Ross County dispatch reported that one person was trapped inside the burning structure at the time. That person was later found deceased. The name and exact events surrounding the fire were not immediately released.
Law enforcement advised residents to avoid the area as crews worked to put out the flames.
Route 50 was shut down near the area of Owl Creek Road. All eastbound traffic, authorities said, was rerouted via Maple Grove and Anderson Station Road.
A second person, according to EMS, had suffered severe burns to their back. They were transported to Adena Regional Medical Center. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the blaze.
