ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Division of Emergency Medical Services (Ohio EMS) will be awarding $20,288 to the Harrison Township Fire Department and $33,960 to the Union Township Fire Department.
State officials say that the money is part of the Ohio Division of EMS’ Supplemental Grant Program.
The grant program supports local fire departments with the purchase of equipment and the necessary training. Items to be purchased include a 12-lead heart monitor, power stretchers, personnel training, and CPR-assisting devices.
Harrison Township recently failed to pass a levy. The levy, township officials said, would have provided the necessary funds to operate their fire department. As several townships in the area struggle financially, these grant opportunities help to offset costs.
