ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Multiple fire departments responded to a camper fire Wednesday evening on Polk Hollow Road in Ross County.
Crews from multiple townships responded to the blaze shortly before 9 p.m.
According to firefighters on the scene, the camper was fully engulfed upon arrival. The inferno was close to a house trailer, which was causing concern for first responders.
The 9-1-1 call, officials said, was phoned in by a passerby.
“When we called 9-1-1, the door was open to the camper and no one was inside,” the eyewitness told the Guardian at the scene. Neighbors said the property had been empty for months and was being used as a drug den.
Authorities say the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
