FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — A widespread power outage impacted thousands of homes near Washington Court House on Monday night.
The outage occurred at around 11 p.m. in Fayette County and impacted nearly 5,000 addresses, according to local power company AES.
AES told the Guardian that while 5,000 addresses are without power, more than 10,000 people within those addresses are impacted since multiple people live under one roof.
Fayette County Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth told the Guardian his office was told the outage was caused by a “circuit being down.”
The Sheriff said the power company was not able to provide a restoration time or elaborate on the cause of the outage, however, some residents have been told midnight was the expected time by the power company.
