PORTSMOUTH, Ohio— A 30-year-old Portsmouth woman is in jail today after the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office says she was involved in the alleged rape and kidnapping of a 12-year-old child.
According to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman, Kimberly Mae Polachek is charged with 2 counts of rape and 2 counts of kidnapping.
On July 24, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a concerned citizen regarding the child. It was then that investigators with the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit launched a full-scale investigation.
Reports say detectives contacted the parents of the child, who said they believed their son was staying at a friend’s house. Law enforcement made contact with the family, who said the boy had never been at their home.
Sheriff Thoroughman said the investigation led to the apartment of Polachek, where they found the boy asleep inside a bedroom within the residence. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Polechek allegedly smoked marijuana with the 12-year-old and then engaged in sexual contact with the boy while her husband was at work.
Officials say the victim was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
Polachek remains in custody at the Scioto County Jail on a $400,000 bond.
