JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the drowning death of a young child.
According to preliminary reports, the tragic incident occurred Wednesday at a property on Chillicothe Pike in Jackson.
No further details were immediately released by Jackson County Sheriff Tedd Frazier.

According to Sheriff Frazier, a 2-year-old girl drowned in a backyard pond. Wednesday evening around 6:30 p.m., deputies were called to 10337 Chillicothe Pike after the 2-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a backyard pond by her two brothers.
Reports say the victim’s mother performed CPR prior to the arrival of deputies. The child was then taken to Holzer Medical Center-Jackson, where she was pronounced deceased.
