VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — On Tuesday afternoon, a three-vehicle crash occurred on Route 50 in Richland Township, Vinton County. Troopers from the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called to the scene at around 4:36 PM.
According to the investigation, 76-year-old Ronald Stansberry of Londonderry, Ohio was driving a 2007 Ford Five Hundred westbound on US50 when he failed to maintain a safe distance and struck the rear of a 2021 Freightliner waste collection truck, operated by 29-year-old Damian Hunt of Londonderry, Ohio. At the time of the collision, Hunt was stopped and collecting residential garbage.
Another driver, 31-year-old Alissa Lindsey of McArthur, Ohio, was also traveling westbound on Route 50 in a 2010 Chevrolet Impala directly behind Stansberry. Lindsey swerved to avoid the collision and drove off the right side of the road, striking an embankment.
Stansberry was transported to the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, and later transferred to Grant Hospital in Columbus. Lindsey sustained minor injuries and was not transported for medical treatment. Hunt was not injured in the crash.
