CINCINNATI, Ohio — The sports world was left in shock this week when NFL star Damar Hamlin, safety for the Buffalo Bills, was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
According to the Buffalo Bills, Hamlin was hit hard during the first quarter and collapsed to the ground as soon as he stood up. NFL officials reported that CPR was performed on Hamlin before medics responded to the field.
A statement released at the time said Hamlin had suffered cardiac arrest.
This morning, the Buffalo Bills released a statement saying that Hamlin is making remarkable progress in his recovery and that his “neurologic function remains intact.” The statement also said that Hamlin has been able to “talk to his family and care team” and that his “breathing tube was removed overnight.”
