Wendell G. Erskine, age 91, of Greenfield, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 on his farm as a result of an ATV accident.
He was born July 19, 1931, in Highland County, Ohio, the son of Homer D. and Grace (Blaser) Erskine.
Wendell was a 1949 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School. He was member of the VFW Post 4736 and was a Golden Eagle at F.O.E. #1325.He was retired from Ohio Department of Natural Resources where he was a mechanic and operator and was a lifelong farmer.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Gene Erskine of Greenfield, Rex Allen Erskine (Sharee Houser) of Bainbridge; three grandchildren, Tondra (Kerry) Ogier, Ty Erskine and Rachel Erskine; three great grandchildren, Elliott (Kaitlyn) Ogier, Kaylee Jo Ogier, Joe (Cheyanne) Barker; one great great-granddaughter, Lux; one sister, Jane Ann (John) Graves of Hillsboro; three sisters-in-law, Clara Mae Elliott of Bainbridge, Shelva Jean Evans of Bainbridge, Jeanie Herman of Greenfield; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence H. “Flossie” Erskine on February 4, 2012; two sons, Ronald Lee Erskine, Timothy Homer Erskine; one grandson, Westley Erskine; two daughters-in-law, Marilyn Erskine, Janet K. Erskine; and both parents.
Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Jeff Barnhart officiating. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Thursday, at the funeral home.
