HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — Two Ohio men were arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine following a traffic stop by Hocking County Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit.
On Wednesday, February 1st, the detectives pulled over a vehicle on Route 33 for multiple traffic violations and found probable cause to search the car. During the search, they uncovered over 4 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
Deshawn Bland, 25, from Columbus, and Malik Bryant, 25, from Warren, were taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Methamphetamine, a first-degree felony.
Both suspects were transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail and given a $500,000 bond by Hocking County Municipal Court Judge Frederick T. Moses during their initial arraignment.
This large seizure of methamphetamine, which is over 500 times the bulk amount, could result in the suspects facing enhanced prison terms if they are convicted of the offense.
The Hocking County Grand Jury is currently investigating the case and will present its findings later.
