JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — It was a wild sight for residents on Red Brush Road when an unexpected visitor showed up in their yards – an emu! But thanks to the quick actions of local deputies, the runaway bird was soon returned to its rightful owner.
According to sources, the emu was first spotted in a resident’s yard just before noon on Wednesday. The startled homeowner promptly reported the sighting, unsure of where the large bird belonged.
With the clock ticking, local deputies sprang into action and managed to track down the elusive emu just half an hour later.
“It’s not every day we wrangle animals, especially emus,” remarked the sheriff’s office.
It turns out the emu had simply wandered away from its home in Hamilton Township. By approximately 12:30pm, deputies were able to make contact with the owner and return the bird to its own yard, much to the relief of the resident who first reported the sighting.
While this runaway emu made for an unexpected sight, residents can rest easy knowing that local law enforcement is always on the lookout for unexpected visitors – whether they have two legs or four.
