LANCASTER, Ohio — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect who died during a standoff in Violet Township on April 11, 2023. Brandon Demaree, 30, of Basil Western Road, succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound before the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team could enter his home to execute a felony arrest warrant.
Demaree’s was wanted in connection with a Franklin County arrest warrant on one count of Pandering Obscenity involving a Minor and three counts of Pandering Obscenity involving a Minor.
During their investigation, detectives from the Sheriff’s Office also discovered a large marijuana grow operation on the property. The drug-related investigation was forwarded to the Major Crimes Unit for further examination.
Sheriff Alex Lape revealed that the gun used by Demaree was registered in his name. Detectives are currently investigating how Demaree, who faced felony charges, was able to possess the firearm.
