LANCASTER, Ohio – The Lancaster Police Department and the Lancaster Fire Department responded to a string of dumpster fires on Sunday, between the hours of 4:30 pm and 11:05 pm. Authorities received reports of five separate incidents at the following locations: Learning Never Ends (230 North Columbus St.), Art and Clay (150 W. Main St.), Home Goods (1739 N. Memorial Dr.), Fiesta Tropicana (1236 N. Memorial Dr.), and Charley’s Steakery (732 N. Memorial Dr.).
Fortunately, firefighters were able to extinguish the fires, minimizing damage to the dumpsters. No injuries were reported in connection with these incidents.
Law enforcement officers were able to identify a suspect later in the evening and successfully apprehended him. The individual, whose name has not been released, was arrested and is currently in custody at the Fairfield County Jail. He faces five counts of misdemeanor arson.
