ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A woman went missing in Ross County, which prompted a search and rescue operation on Wednesday.
The call was placed to Ross County Sheriff’s office at around 6:30 p.m., when dispatchers were told the woman had been visiting Ross Lake and went missing. Ross Lake Wildlife Area is a 1,107-acre state wildlife area located 2 miles east of Chillicothe. The woman was last seen near a body of water, according to first responders.
It was not immediately released why the woman was visiting the area or if she was alone, however, several fire departments, the Sheriff’s office, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and several other agencies were dispatched to the scene.
The woman, whose name has not been released, is in her late sixties and was wearing a bright pink coat, shorts, and shoes.
According to first responders, the woman’s husband called in the missing report. The woman was found about 45 minutes into the search by firefighters, who said she told them she was “walking home.”
