CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe City Council is set to convene for their regularly scheduled meeting tonight at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers, located at 26 South Paint Street, Second Floor. The meeting is open to the public and presided over by Joe Gieringer, President of the Council, and Kennedy Moss, Clerk of Council.
The meeting’s agenda covers significant resolutions and ordinances. Notably, the third reading involves the resolution to confirm appointments to the Non-Profit Funding Committee. The council will vote on the appointments of Michael Maughmer, Andrea Holmes, and Lisa Johnson.
Under the second reading, the council will review a resolution adopting an updated Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy for the Chillicothe Transit System.
Multiple items are due for their first readings, including an ordinance to appropriate funds in the amount of $7,661.00 as local funds for the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission for the fiscal year 2024. This action is declared an emergency and seeks immediate action.
Another ordinance for the first reading involves the acceptance and appropriation of $1,800.00 from NAMI Ohio for the Chillicothe Police Department, to provide additional support to local law enforcement.
A major resolution set for its first reading is authorizing the Mayor to contract with the Ohio Regional Development Corporation for the administration of PY2023 and PY2024 Community Development CDBG programs. This authorization also includes filing applications for various competitive grants aimed at community development and revitalization.
Further, the first reading of an ordinance aims to re-adopt the Residential Anti-Displacement and Relocation Assistance Plan for the purpose of receiving CDBG funds. This is also declared an emergency.
As part of its first reading, a resolution is due that permits the use of certain city streets for the Kenworth Truck Parade slated for Saturday, June 17th, 2023, which is declared an emergency.
Another resolution, under its first reading, seeks to authorize the use of the Municipal Parking lot at the corner of Fourth and Paint Streets to Paper City Mentoring Project for their “Paper City Mentoring Project Summer Concert” on July 12, 2023. This is also declared an emergency.
Finally, an ordinance authorizing the Chillicothe Municipal Court to apply for the Ohio Attorney General’s Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) Grant and the State Victim’s Assistance Act (SVAA) Grant to extend the Chillicothe Municipal Court Victim Witness Assistance Program is set for its first reading. If granted, it will be declared an emergency.
