CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Feast of the Flowering Moon, a 40-year-old festival celebrating Native American heritage, has donated to several local organizations in appreciation of their support.
The board of directors donated $1,000 each to The Scioto Society and the Ohio History Connection, both of which support Native American education and preservation. The board also donated $1,000 to Downtown Chillicothe, Inc., which has hosted a portion of the festival since its inception.
In addition, the board donated $500 to the Chillicothe Kiwanis Club, which has partnered with the festival for many years, and $200 to the Chillicothe Youth Baseball League.
“We wanted to use this opportunity to show our gratitude by helping partnering organizations and those that support the Native American heritage,” said Gene Betts, president of the board of directors.
The Feast of the Flowering Moon is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a festival that will educate, honor, and preserve the Native American culture. The festival is held annually over Memorial Day weekend.
