SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — A 56-year-old Lucasville man has been charged with two counts of first-degree felony rape after a home health care client reported a sexual assault.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office was alerted on Friday, September 15, 2023, by a supervisor from a home health care company. The supervisor claimed that one of her clients had been sexually assaulted by a caregiver.
Det. Sgt. Jodi Conkel, in collaboration with the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim Unit, led the inquiry into the alleged assault. The investigation determined that the victim, who required round-the-clock care and was unable to care for herself, had been taken to Adena Medical Center in Pike County for treatment and a sexual assault examination.
Sheriff David Thoroughman stated that detectives located the suspect, identified as Ronald R. Pace of State Route 104 Lucasville, Ohio, at a residence in Rosemount. Pace was detained for questioning before being charged.
Pace was held at the Scioto County Jail with a bond set at $200,000. He made his initial appearance in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, September 18, 2023.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming. Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the case to reach out to Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
