JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — A hazmat situation has shutdown a popular highway rest area Wednesday evening.
It happened at around 5 p.m. along route 35, just inside the Jackson County line, south of Ross County.
The situation was declared hazardous material after a vehicle hauling chemicals sprung a leak. The rest area was evacuated and shutdown as a result.
The materials that were being hauled and what caused the leak was not immediately released.
