CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The city of Chillicothe is excited to invite residents to the official unveiling of the new neighborhood recreational space, “Patrick Park,” situated at 27 Wade Street in the Sixth Ward. The inauguration event is set for Thursday, October 19th, 2023, between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
This promising addition to the city’s leisure areas has been realized through the benevolent property donation by the former City Councilwoman, Patricia Patrick, and her family. Ross County Land Bank facilitated the plot’s transformation through a grant, paving the way for the park’s establishment.
Further financial aid came from the Ross County Health District’s Creating Healthy Communities program and the AARP’s Community Challenge program, underscoring the collaborative efforts behind the park’s development.
An engaging community involvement initiative led to the selection of the “Patrick Park” playground design. Votes poured in from various community groups, including Chillicothe Pre-K and Primary Schools, YMCA Latchkey, Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library’s Bookworm groups. Notably, an ice cream social voting event in Spring 2023 provided residents an on-ground opportunity to cast their preferences.
In an effort to ensure accessibility for all during the grand opening, the Chillicothe Trolley will operate a unique route facilitating transportation within the Sixth Ward. Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for this significant community milestone.
