LOS ANGELES, California — California celebrated another Powerball victory as the second-largest jackpot of the game, valued at $1.76 billion, was clinched Wednesday evening.
The jackpot-winning combination was 22, 24, 40, 52, 64, along with the red Powerball number 10.
Midway Market & Liquors in Frazier Park, Calif., a shop 75 miles north of Los Angeles, is the retailer that sold this fortunate ticket.
This marks the fifth instance this year that someone has struck the Powerball jackpot.
The recipient of this staggering amount has the option of accepting $1.76 billion, split over 30 installments spanning 29 years, or take a lump sum of $774.1 million.
Meanwhile, tickets from Arizona and Pennsylvania matched five white balls and benefited from the 2x Power Play, landing a $2 million prize.
Adding to the excitement, seven ticket holders from various states – two each from California and Florida, and one from New York, Oklahoma, and Virginia – earned $1 million each by predicting the five white ball numbers accurately.
Matching all the numbers and the red Powerball is no small feat, with the odds being a whopping 1 in 292,201,338.
California seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to the Powerball. This recent win means the state has been home to winners of the top four jackpots in Powerball history.
On July 19, the previous jackpot of $1.08 billion was also claimed by a Californian, whose identity remains undisclosed.
