WILMINGTON, Ohio — Halloween is set to unfold with an icy touch as frosty conditions this morning evolve into breezy winds and snow showers later in the day, warns the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
A Frost Warning is currently in effect across the region until 10 a.m., issued in response to overnight temperatures plummeting to as low as 24 degrees.
Throughout the day, expect increasing clouds and winds, with mostly clear skies in the morning transitioning to mostly cloudy conditions in the afternoon. The peak of the wind is anticipated around sundown, with gusts reaching as high as 29 mph.
Despite the day’s variety in weather, temperatures will linger around 45 degrees. Come trick-or-treat time, the chance of rain will shift to snow, accompanied by gusty winds. Evening temperatures will dip to the low 40s to upper 30s, but the wind chill will make it feel even colder, resembling the low 30s to upper 20s.
Snow showers are likely around sundown, tapering to a chance of snow in the evening and persisting into the early hours of Wednesday. The NWS anticipates minimal to no accumulation from the snowfall.
Overnight lows are expected to dip below freezing, reaching around 26 degrees.
As the calendar flips to November, clouds will decrease on Wednesday, unveiling mostly sunny skies. However, the cold grip will persist, with highs hovering around 45 degrees.
Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures again dropping below freezing to around 27 degrees.
A slight temperature reprieve is in store for Thursday, as mostly sunny skies accompany highs of around 51 degrees. Thursday night, although predicted to be cold, should remain a few degrees above freezing, with lows around 35 degrees, and partly cloudy skies overhead.
