ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A mission central Ohio man was found dead in Ross County on Wednesday.
A search-and-rescue mission got underway around 3:30 p.m. along route 23 near Main Street for 73-year-old Thomas Danzeisen. It started after troopers found an abandoned vehicle parked along the highway. When they ran the plate they learned that Danzeisen had been reported missing from Gahanna.
The man’s shoes, pants, shirt, and jacket were located along the bank, along with footprints leading to the water nearby.
Rescue crews were sent to the area to help search the waters, including numerous drones, a boat, and aviation from the Highway Patrol.
Just before 7 p.m., troopers located the body on a sandbar just east of Charleston Pike. A boat was sent to recover the body and pull it ashore.
Danzeisen reportedly went missing Wednesday morning at around 9 a.m. from his home in Franklin County. Troopers said he left his wallet and phone behind, along with life-sustaining heart medication. Law enforcement did not state a reason for the man to go missing, but stated that his heart medication had complications associated with it, including altered mental status.
