CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A duplex was destroyed in an early morning house fire in Chillicothe.
It happened Saturday morning at around 2:30 a.m. on the corner of Riverside Street and Scioto Avenue.
Police officers on routine patrol stumbled across the blaze when smoke was seen billowing from as far away as Paint Street.
Multiple fire departments responded to the blaze and immediately went into defensive mode to get the inferno under control.
Initial reports by law enforcement led them to believe that someone may have been trapped inside the building. As of press time, the fire was still being battled and the claim could not be verified.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
