ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Herr’s Foods Inc., a beloved family-owned company making chips and snacks since 1946, received a $50,000 grant to support the expansion of their Chillicothe factory. This investment comes courtesy of Fluor-BWXT (FBP) and the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO).
“This company is a local success story,” said FBP President and CEO Greg Wicket, highlighting Herr’s long history and continued growth. “We are honored to help them reach the next level of success, keeping local dollars local.”
The grant aims to fuel a $5.6 million expansion project at the Chillicothe plant, creating an estimated 25-50 new jobs over the next three years.
“This is exactly why we provide these grants,” explained FBP Community Commitment Chair Tim Poe. “We want these small businesses to continue to grow and create additional jobs in the region.”
The impact of such grants extends beyond immediate job creation, according to Tammy Eallonardo, Director of Greater Chillicothe and Ross County Economic Development. “Grants like these attract more businesses to the area,” she said
This collaboration reflects a successful partnership between FBP and JEDISO, which has injected over $5.5 million in economic grants into the region since 2011, creating and retaining thousands of jobs.
