CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – A Ross County man was involuntarily committed for psychiatric evaluation after repeated phone calls containing threats and concerning statements to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities say the man, who has a history of concerning calls to the prosecutor’s office, the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, and a local church, was contacted by law enforcement on March 25 and told to cease communications with the prosecutor’s office. Despite this, he has continued to place calls.
The man left messages claiming to communicate with the CIA and FBI, alleging prosecutorial misconduct. In one message, he proclaimed himself the “mayor” of Ross County. In recent voicemails, he used threatening language towards a Ross County judge and displayed erratic behavior, indicating potential mental health issues, law enforcement said.
Police transported the man to Adena Regional Medical Center on an emergency psychiatric hold.
