BROWN COUNTY, Ohio — A fatal crash involving a school bus in Brown County on Sunday evening left one driver dead and two students with minor injuries, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the collision occurred around 7:38 p.m. on January 19, 2025, at the intersection of Route 32 and Sardinia Mowrystown Road. Investigators believe 47-year-old Shawn Wisby, of Georgetown, was traveling east on Route 32 when he veered off the roadway, crossed the median, and slammed head-on into a Western Brown School bus.
Wisby, who officials say was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities shut down the westbound lanes of Route 32 near Sardinia Mowrystown Road for several hours while they investigated and cleared the crash site.
The bus was carrying students from the Western Brown girl’s wrestling team. Some of the students sustained minor injuries and were taken to Mt. Orab Mercy Hospital for evaluation. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Route 32 would remain closed for an extended period. Local authorities have not yet provided a timeline for reopening the roadway.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, and no further details have been released at this time. Officials say they notified the parents of the students before making the incident public.
