CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A devastating fire has left a Chillicothe woman homeless after flames tore through her uninsured residence, destroying most of the structure and her belongings, according to a fundraising campaign launched by her daughter.
Kaycie Depugh started a GoFundMe to support her mother, whose home was severely damaged when a fire began in the attic and spread, leaving little salvageable. The family is now grappling with how to move forward without insurance to cover the losses.
“She’s trying to figure out where to go from here,” Depugh wrote in the fundraiser description. “I’m just hoping to help her get a bit of support during this tough time.”
The campaign aims to raise funds for urgent needs, including materials for home repairs, waste removal, a new roof, and basic essentials to help Depugh’s mother start over. While the full cost of rebuilding remains uncertain, the initial goal is intended to address the most pressing expenses.
Depugh expressed gratitude for any contributions or shares of the fundraiser, emphasizing the importance of community support. “It would mean a lot,” she said.
The GoFundMe is active, and the family hopes donations will provide a foundation for recovery after the catastrophic loss.
