PIKETON, Ohio — A Piketon manufacturing company repaired a critical part on the Piketon Seal Township Fire Department’s ladder truck at no charge after the part failed and a replacement could not be found, the department said.
The department said a critical part on Ladder 4 failed and learned a replacement was no longer available, leaving the ladder truck out of service until a solution could be found.
Innovative Solutions, a Piketon manufacturing and machining company also known as InSolves, custom-machined a new replacement part and repaired the assembly, returning Ladder 4 to service in one day, according to the fire department. The company did not charge for the work, the department said.
“Their generosity, skill, and commitment to helping their community are a true example of what makes our local businesses so special,” the department said in a Facebook post, adding that the quick turnaround kept “one of our most important pieces of emergency equipment” ready to serve Piketon and Seal Township.
Innovative Solutions is headquartered on U.S. 23 in Piketon and was founded in 1996 by Francis Barbarits. The company provides fabrication, machining, engineering and staffing services, and has long supported federal and nuclear-industry work in the region, including projects tied to the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. It holds federal HUBZone and Small Business Administration Woman Owned Small Business certifications.
The Piketon Seal Township Fire Department is a volunteer department serving the village of Piketon and Seal Township in Pike County.
