WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners voted May 4 to award a $514,189 contract to an Ohio construction firm to rehabilitate the Snowhill Road bridge, after opening bids from three companies competing for the work.
Eagle Bridge Co. of Sidney submitted the lowest of three bids for the Snowhill Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project, identified in county records as project FAY-CR09-2.70. The other bidders were KT Holden Construction of Lebanon, at $629,656, and Axis Civil Construction of Gahanna, at $693,207, according to meeting minutes. The county engineer’s office had estimated the project would cost $462,946.
Commissioners voted unanimously to accept Eagle Bridge Co.’s bid on the recommendation of Fayette County Engineer Jason Little, the minutes said.
In other action at the same meeting, commissioners approved a one-time lump-sum bonus for Fayette County Department of Job and Family Services staff in place of a cost-of-living increase, at a total agency cost not to exceed $34,000. Full-time employees will receive $1,000 and part-time employees $500, according to the county.
Commissioners also held a second public hearing on a proposed application for the state’s Community Housing Impact and Preservation Program, which would bring Fayette County up to $700,000 for home repair and rehabilitation assistance for low- and moderate-income residents, split between the county and the city of Washington Court House. Commissioners authorized the county’s request for proposals partner, Ohio Regional Development Corporation, to proceed with the funding application ahead of a June 24 filing deadline.
