HILLSBORO, Ohio — A Hillsboro man is accused of pouring paint thinner on a kitchen floor and threatening to set a residence on fire during a domestic dispute early Saturday, according to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Lazy Trail at about 3:03 a.m. Aug. 8 in response to a reported domestic dispute, the sheriff’s office said.

During the investigation, deputies interviewed the people involved and witnesses at the scene. Investigators learned that Justin Childers had poured paint thinner onto the kitchen floor and threatened to set the residence on fire, according to the sheriff’s office.

Childers was arrested and charged with domestic violence following the investigation. He was transported to the Highland County Jail, the sheriff’s office said.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
