FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio — Nine bomb-sniffing dog teams and multiple law enforcement and military agencies searched a Fayette County construction site Wednesday evening after a bomb threat was called in, but nothing was found, according to Jefferson Township Fire & EMS.
Crews were alerted to the threat at 5:27 p.m., the department said in a Facebook post. Jefferson Township Fire & EMS described the threat as being taken “very seriously” and said a thorough search of the site turned up nothing dangerous.
The response drew on a wide range of local, state and federal resources. Agencies involved included Fayette County Dispatch, Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies, the Columbus Division of Fire’s bomb squad, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s office, Silvercreek Township Fire & EMS, Jefferson Township Fire & EMS, and the construction site’s own managers and safety teams, according to the department.
Nine bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in to search the complex, the department said. Jefferson Township Fire & EMS thanked the responding agencies for their assistance and said the relationships built among departments in the region helped the search move quickly.
The threat remains under investigation. Fayette County Sheriff’s officials are asking anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office at 740-335-6170.
