CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Circleville firefighters will host the city’s second annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb next month, an event marking 25 years since the 2001 terrorist attacks and raising money for two organizations that support firefighters and children.
The climb is set for Friday, Sept. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Circleville High School’s Tiger Stadium, according to a flyer posted by the Circleville Fire Department. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m.
The event is organized in partnership with OhioHealth, Circleville City Schools and the city of Circleville. Registration costs $25 per person or $5 for students, payable by cash, check or Venmo, with payment required to receive an event T-shirt. Proceeds will benefit Foundations 4 Youth, a Circleville-based nonprofit that supports youth-focused programs in Pickaway County, and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The foundation was chartered by Congress in 1992 to lead a nationwide effort to honor firefighters killed in the line of duty, support their families and colleagues, and reduce preventable firefighter deaths and injuries, according to the foundation.
The flyer’s message to participants reads: “Climb in honor. Climb in memory. Climb to never forget.”
