CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Pickaway County Engineer’s Office closed Canal Road on Thursday after rising water made the roadway impassable, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Canal Road is shut down between Melvin Stone Road and State Route 104, the sheriff’s office said in an advisory issued at 5:01 p.m. No timeline was given for when the road will reopen.

The closure adds to a run of high-water road shutdowns in the county this week. Earlier Thursday, crews closed State Route 752 and the intersection of State Route 104 and State Route 762 for the same reason.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until conditions improve. Residents can report emergencies by calling 911, or reach the sheriff’s office non-emergency line at 740-420-5850.
