HILLSBORO, Ohio — Residents who couldn’t get through on Team Rubicon’s disaster response line this week can try calling again, the Highland County Emergency Management Agency said, after a technical issue was affecting some incoming calls to the number.

The hotline, (213) 815-0231, connects callers with the veteran-led nonprofit’s crews conducting free home damage assessments, debris removal and roof tarping for residents recovering from this month’s storms, according to the EMA. The agency said all of Team Rubicon’s services remain free of charge to residents.

Team Rubicon volunteers have been working in Highland County since Aug. 13, when a team fanned out across the county to assess damage from severe storms that toppled trees and knocked out power lines, with the heaviest damage reported south of U.S. Route 50. A crew of roughly 30 volunteers, most of them military veterans working without pay, arrived in the county last week and has been based at a church camp on state Route 136 south of Sugar Tree Ridge while continuing cleanup work, according to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office.

The EMA apologized for the inconvenience caused by the phone issue and asked residents needing assistance to call the hotline again.
