WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners adopted a 20-year plan for the county’s future roadways and pushed forward several planning contracts tied to growth expected near the county’s mega site, according to minutes from the board’s Aug. 3 meeting.
Commissioners voted to adopt the Fayette County Thoroughfare Plan, funded by the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission, to guide the type and location of roadways needed to address long-term growth over the next 20-plus years, the minutes said.
The board also rescinded an April 6 agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. covering the first phase of a community plan and replaced it with a new $74,000 agreement directing the firm to develop a water and wastewater master plan for a 5-mile radius surrounding the mega site, where Fayette County has been reviewing building permits for a Honda-LG battery plant. The plan will cover existing conditions analysis and future growth and land use, according to the minutes.
Separately, commissioners entered into an agreement with Planning NEXT LLC of Columbus, at an estimated cost of $75,000, to prepare a joint land-use plan for the county that includes public engagement and land-use analysis, the minutes said.
Commissioners also authorized Board Chairman Jim Garland to apply for up to $500,000 in Surface Transportation Block Grant funding through the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission to help pay for a bridge superstructure replacement project on County Road 47, according to a resolution passed at the meeting.
In other business, the board authorized W.S. Electronics LLC of Xenia to install a repeater antenna on the Fayette County EMS communications tower to support radio communications for the Washington Court House City Schools bus fleet, the minutes said.
