WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners agreed to pay Bowen Engineering Corp. an additional $166,720 to keep construction of the county’s Rattlesnake Water Treatment Plant moving, covering four months of rising general conditions costs on the project.
Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 10 to accept a second amendment to the plant’s Contract A general conditions agreement with Bowen Engineering, the project’s construction manager, according to meeting minutes. Under the amendment, Bowen is entitled to $41,680 a month in general conditions costs for the duration of construction, adding up to the $166,720 increase covering May through August.
Project administration activities, including completing a project punch list and coordinating a guaranteed maximum price amendment, remain in progress, according to the county.
The vote comes after commissioners rejected a $1.25 million bid and ordered a rebid on a Rattlesnake project building earlier in August.
Commissioners also voted to direct the law firm Bricker, Graydon & Wyatt to alter Bowen Engineering’s contract, moving a generator, an ETS and pumps intended for the treatment plant out of the current contract and into a separate water intake contract, in a push toward substantial completion of the project, according to the resolution.
Both measures passed on unanimous roll-call votes of commissioners James D. Garland, Tony Anderson and Donald L. Fleak.
