WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Washington Court House City Council will consider entering into a public defender services agreement with Fayette County and authorizing immediate repayment of an outstanding loan between the city’s water and sewer funds when it meets Aug. 26.
Council is scheduled to take up Resolution No. R29-2026 at its 7:30 p.m. meeting, which would authorize City Manager Joseph J. Denen to sign an agreement with the Fayette County commissioners for the county to provide public defender services, according to the meeting agenda.
Also on the agenda is Resolution No. R28-2026, which would reaffirm an interfund loan the city’s sewer fund made to its water fund and authorize the finance director to immediately pay off the remaining balance, the agenda said.
Council will take a first reading on Resolution No. R30-2026, which would accept the tax rates set by the Fayette County Budget Commission and certify the city’s necessity levies to the county auditor, according to the agenda.
Council is also expected to take a third and final reading on Ordinance No. 11-2026, which would modify cemetery rates. Council first introduced the rate change in July alongside a Reservoir Two fisheries agreement.
Council will also hear reports from the city manager, finance director and city attorney, and take comments from local residents during the meeting, the agenda said.
