CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Chillicothe City Council will consider authorizing Mayor to negotiate a lease for new council chambers, meeting rooms and office space at the Foulke Block, 14 S. Paint St., when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday, according to the meeting agenda.
The resolution, up for its first reading, would let the mayor negotiate terms with the building’s owners, including provisions for necessary renovations and build-out costs, but would not itself commit the city to a lease.
Council will also take up two new appropriations of OneOhio opioid settlement funds: $100,000 to the Ross County Community Action Commission and $35,000 to the Paper City Mentoring Project, both on first reading. The additions would come on top of $40,000 for the Hope Partnership Project and $20,000 for the Assistance House of Ross County, which cleared its first reading during council’s Aug. 10 meeting and returns Monday for a second reading, along with proposed funding for downtown solid waste containers, Canada goose management services at Yoctangee Park and a replacement gas monitor probe at the closed Seney Road landfill.
In other business, council will consider an ordinance designating public depositories for the city’s active and interim deposits under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 135, an ordinance letting the city auditor reallocate appropriated funds between salary and fringe-benefit line items for the rest of 2026, and an ordinance accepting $5,183 in program income from the Ohio Regional Development Corporation for costs tied to a mortgage release.
