
Vernon Glen Holbert 62 of Waverly passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 3, 2026, due to an automobile accident. He was born January 9, 1964, in Greenfield to Shirley (Mohr) Holbert and the late Robert Holbert.
He is survived by his mother Shirley Campbell; four children Jeremy Glen (Christy) Holbert, Andrew James Holbert, Kathrine “Katie” Holbert and Vernon Dwayne Holbert; eight grandchildren; sister Lori McGraw; brothers Robert (Trish) Holbert and Thomas (Bridget) Holbert; and several nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by his father Robert; stepfather Harold Campbell; brother Richard W. “Rick” Holbert and brother-in-law Tom McGraw.
Vernon was a graduate of Western High School, a former construction and blacktop worker, and a former logger with his brothers. He also had worked for Benton Township for several years. Vernon enjoyed mechanicing and rock laying. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who loved him.
Funeral services will be 12 pm Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home, Bainbridge with Pastor Jeff Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the Twin Township Cemetery. The Holbert family will receive family and friends from 11 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
