With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James C. Wilson, of Hillsboro, who left us on September 14, 2026, at the age of 64.
Born on May 26, 1962, in Wilmington, OH, the son of the late Garrett and Ada (McGeorge) Wilson. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Mallott. James lived a life full of laughter, love, and stubborn charm.
James was a devoted husband to his wife, Judy (Grody) Wilson, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He was a proud father to his daughter, Jennifer Wilson, step-daughter, Charity (Kyle) Brewer, step-son, Daniel Gray and cherished grandfather to grandchildren Taylor Gasaway, Trey Brewer, Peyton Brewer, Aliyah Gray, and Allissa Gray. He also leaves behind his brother Wade (Amy) Wilson and sister Barbara Bishop, both of whom will miss him dearly.
James enjoyed sharing a good joke or two, and his orneriness was part of his endearing spirit. With a big heart, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family, enjoying music, woodworking, and, of course, fishing. His warm laughter and playful banter will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
James honorably served in the Army, enlisting on August 20, 1980, and we’ll always remember his dedication and spirit.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we invite friends and family to join us for a Gathering of Family and Friends at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, on September 26, 2026, starting at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Thompson Funeral Home at 1:00 pm, leading into a Graveside Service at Hillsboro Cemetery at 1:45 pm, where Military Graveside Rites will be performed by the Highland County Honor Guard.
