WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners are set to formally authorize amended agreements for the L-H Battery plant and take up a twice-delayed proposal for a yearlong data center moratorium when they meet Monday, according to the board’s agenda.
Commissioners plan to authorize an amended community reinvestment area agreement and an amended development agreement for L-H Battery, the joint venture building a battery plant near Jeffersonville. The board first moved to weigh the changes at its Sept. 2 meeting; the agenda does not detail what the amendments change.
Also on Monday’s agenda is a resolution declaring an emergency and imposing a one-year moratorium on data center-related zoning applications, zoning approvals and building permits in unincorporated areas of Concord, Green, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Paint and Perry townships. Commissioners first floated the freeze ahead of a Sept. 8 meeting, where they instead adopted a resolution limiting public comment on the issue to five minutes per speaker and 30 minutes total, according to meeting minutes. A group of residents spoke on the proposal at that session, and the discussion was pushed back first to Sept. 14 and then to Monday’s meeting.
Commissioners are also scheduled to discuss county employee health plan options and consider a contract with M&T Roofing to repair and replace the roof of the county’s Commission on Aging building at 1179 S. Elm St.
In other new business, the board plans to authorize the county’s Job and Family Services director to serve as its designee for releasing and accepting funds on the county’s behalf through the end of the year, review a standing agreement with FBT Gibbons for annexation advice, and renew the county’s Nippon Life Benefits employer-paid life insurance policy at no increase in cost for 2027.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday at the Fayette County Commissioners’ office. The agenda is subject to change, according to the county.
