ORVILLE L. STRITENBERGER, age 97, of Washington CH, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Court House Manor.
He was born on August 15, 1923 in Fayette County to Orville L. and Clara V. (Morris) Stritenberger. Orville proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He pastored at the New Holland Church of Christ in Christian Union for several years; he also owned and operated the Lafayette Tree Service. Orville was a member at the House of Prayer Church on Washington Avenue. He enjoyed going to church, fishing, and being with his family.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Ruth Louise (Shiltz) Stritenberger; son, Terry Stritenberger; grandson, Jeffrey A. Rinehart; great-grandson, Syth M. Rinehart; son-in-law, Terry K. Newman; and siblings, Wanda Ashbaugh, Ralph, Cliff, Alvin, and Jim Stritenberger.
Survivors include his wife, Lucinda Lucile (Sockman) Harper, whom he married on October 14, 2017; children, Donald R. (Linda) Stritenberger and Ruth A. Newman; grandchildren, Donnie R. (Julie) Stritenberger, Beth A. Stritenberger, Tammy (Shannon) Dudley, Sherry Stritenberger, Timothy Stritenberger, and Richard A. Rinehart; ten great-grandchildren; and siblings, Janice Leebrick, Stella (Tony) Lytle, Ronnie Stritenberger, and John Stritenberger. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear and special friends.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bray officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
