ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A drug overdose in Ross County leads to the discovery of a man wanted out of Nebraska.
The Ross County Sheriff’s Office, along with EMS, responded to Little Rocky Road after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a grandmother who stated that her grandson, Ronnie R. McCain III, was unresponsive and barely breathing.
Reports say deputies gave McCain life-saving Narcan. The man regained consciousness a short time later.
According to deputies, a small baggie containing a white powdery substance was found in McCain’s wallet. McCain eventually admitted to deputies that he had smoked a fentanyl mixture.
McCain, EMS said, refused any further medical treatment.
As part of their investigation, deputies ran the man’s name through their database. That is when it was discovered that McCain had a full-extradition warrant out of Nebraska. Ronnie R. McCain III was taken into custody without incident. He is being held in the Ross County Jail pending extradition.
The Guardian reached out to authorities in Nebraska regarding his charges but has not heard back from them at this time.
