CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police in Chillicothe recovered a stolen vehicle that had been missing for several months.

According to reports, Chillicothe Police were patrolling the area of East Main Street on Sunday when a gray KIA Sorento “suddenly slowed down and quickly changed lanes.” Upon running the vehicle’s tag number, police say, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen from Huber Heights near Dayton in October.

The officer followed the vehicle before pulling the car over near East Fourth Street.

Police say the driver of the stolen car was detained while officers initiated an investigation. Upon speaking with the driver, it was learned that the car had been purchased a few months prior.

The vehicle, reports say, had no signs of tampering with the ignition.

The driver was able to identify the individual from whom he purchased the car and provided law enforcement with a statement.

Officials say the stolen car was impounded, and Huber Heights Police were notified of the recovery. According to police, the driver of the stolen car was released without incident.

The case remains under investigation.
