WASHINGTON, D.C. — The government’s disaster preparation website, Ready.gov, wants Americans to be prepared in case there was a nuclear attack.

The website was updated on February 25, 2022, to include nuclear preparation.

According to the website, launched in 2003, “nuclear explosions can cause significant damage and casualties from blast, heat, and radiation.”

The site also shares preparation tips for other natural disasters and makes recommendations for citizens in creating a plan of action.

Fears of a nuclear confrontation between the United States and Russia have risen since President Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine.

Many foreign policy analysts say the current conflict is reminiscent of the Cold War.

On Sunday, the Russian President placed his nuclear deterrent forces on high alert.

When asked Monday by the media during a Black History Month event, President Joe Biden said Americans should not fear a nuclear attack from Russia.

Many countries across the world continue to send military and humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people.

While speaking to European leaders today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky said, “This is the price of freedom. We’re fighting just for our land and for our freedom.”
